These easy tips and tricks can be made quite cheaply with things found in your own home, so don’t spend time and money on your ghoulish looks this Halloween!
Face make up
This will give you an excellent base on which to paint your ghoulish looks, add green food dye for witches or goblins, blue for corpses, or leave dead white for vampires and zombies. You can even layer it on thickly to change the appearance of your skin and stop it looking too smooth.
Recipe:
1 teaspoon of corn starch, 1/2 teaspoon of water, 1/2 teaspoon of cold cream, food dye of your choice.
Directions:
Stir together the starch and cold cream until mixed well. Stir in the water, then add food colouring.
Application:
Wash your face and any area that you will be applying the makeup to. Dry thoroughly. Use your fingertips to spread onto large areas. Use a small paint brush to paint designs on your face. Removes with soap and water. Store in an air-tight container.
Fake wounds
Try this for realistic looking wounds, it’s a lot simpler than the effects suggest!
You will need:
Small bowl
Toothpick
Ingredients
A dab of petroleum jelly, tissue or toilet paper squares, cocoa powder, 3 or 4 drops of red food colouring
Directions:
Put a dab of petroleum jelly into the small bowl. Add a few drops of food dye. Stir with the toothpick. Add a small amount of the powdered cocoa to darken the blood to your required shade. Pull apart the tissue so you have only one layer. Tear the sheet of tissue to about two by three inches and place where you would like your fake wound.
Smear the petroleum jelly mix onto the tissue and mould your gory wound to the shape you want it. Don’t lie it flat, make it appear realistic and uneven by raising the outer edges. Starting with the outer edges, pat in the cocoa to darken the edges. If you like, place a little in the centre of the wound.
Fake warts
Instantly gross out your friends with these witch warts, so easy, quick and cheap!
You will need:
Peppercorns
Eyelash glue
Non-toxic water-colour paints or face paints.
This one really is so easy, yet so effective. Simply paint the warts white, or leave black, and attach to the skin AVOIDING the eye area.
Fake blood
Another cheap and quick solution, please ensure the mixture has cooled sufficiently before use.
Plain flour
Water
Red food dye
1 teaspoon of coffee granules
Boil the water in a pan, then sieve in the flour, making sure you get all of the lumps out. The amount of ingredients aren’t really important, it just depends on how much you need. Once you have the flour mixed nicely into the water it should look nice and thick. Next, add the red food dye.
You will notice that it’s an unrealistic, bright red colour but don’t worry this is why we add the coffee. It is important that when you add the coffee to make sure the mixture is hot, otherwise it won’t dissolve. Allow to cool, then apply as required.
