Great fun to do with family and friends for Halloween.
Skewer the apples With the wooden skewers pushing them about half way through the core of the apple.
Place a pan over a high heat and add the sugar and water. Allow it to heat letting the sugar dissolve. When boiling, add the vinegar and the butter and cook for about 7 to 10 minutes.
Prepare a bowl of water. When the caramel darkens, after about 7 to 10 minutes boiling time, drop a little bit into the water. If it coagulates and hardens immediately then it’s ready.
Once your caramel is ready start dipping your apples making sure you coat them evenly and generously. Place on the tray lined with greaseproof paper to cool. Once cooled they are ready to eat.
Jazz up you toffee apples by dipping them in melted chocolate once cooled, add sprinkles or flaked chocolate. Experiment!
